Exterior: Perkins Street and the Surrounding Area

Welcome to 19 Perkins Street

A restored, 2-story peach/apricot-colored Victorian: 1st one on the right.
You enter Perkins street off of Grand Avenue (a left turn). Grand Avenue is a main artery connecting our neighborhood to downtown New Haven. It is a straight shot, 5-10 minutes by car, dropping you off on State Street. The apartment is on the first floor on the left, and is located in the very first Victorian on the right when you turn onto Perkins Street. There is plenty of off-street parking next to the apartment; and there is sufficient on-street parking for your guests.

Cherry blossoms at the apartment's entrance
A lovely tree of cherry blossoms meets you at the driveway leading into the apartment. Just beside the apartment is a community garden. It is visible behind the tree in the image above. Over the past several months, the New Haven Land Trust has updated our community garden. Imagine a new greenhouse, beds, and a cherry-wood fence lining Perkins Street. A bus stop for the D Line is conveniently located at the entrance to Perkins on Grand Avenue.

Fenced-in backyard with a view of the Quinnipiac River from the kitchen
One block past Perkins (along Grand Avenue) is the Quinnipiac River and the Quinnipiac River Park. I have enjoyed many lovely walks and picnics in the park when the weather is nice. Along Grand Avenue are a host of restaurants, barbershops, a library, a high school, banks, and a grocery story. Perkins Street is one-way. Walking 3-5 minutes up Perkins (in the direction of traffic) will take you to a second neighborhood park called Chatham Square Park. It is home to many community activities during the summer and fall.

One of many beautiful sunrises that you will enjoy here.
It is a great way to start the day.
Just over the Quinnipiac bridge is our neighborhood wine store, Gran Vin. Here you will also find  Quinnipiac Avenue, another main artery, that leads to Foxon Blvd/Route 80, as well as Highways 91 and 95.  Living in this apartment, you are well-situated between New Haven and surrounding towns like North Haven, East Haven, Guilford and Branford.

One of many beautiful sunsets that will calm a stressful day.
End your days with this heavenly kiss.
